Like anything else...painting has a process. I have worked on refining my approach to painting outdoors and for studio painting with a unique and useful set of tools; Color, Composition & Design, Value, Drawing, and Concept.
I teach my students how to paint from their own experiences, vision, and heart. Not like me. When understand how to use these tools properly, you can learn to see and paint from your own vision ans soul. Bringing more Joy to your Painting and building a sustainable painting practice.

With programs for kids, teens, and adults at all levels she has earned a reputation as a teacher of quality art instruction. Many of her students have gone on to some of the best art schools in the country and careers in animation, fine arts and illustration.
Rose’s skills from her experiences as an award-winning fine artist and creative director bring her students not only her technical knowledge but also the enrichment of her lifelong journey as a professional artist.

Mentorship is for those who are feeling the need for a mentor and some guidance on their Art Journey. I offer Art Journey Mentorship and Portfolio Mentorship for High school students who feel they may want to study art in college or attend an art school.
Portfolio Mentorship is a powerful one-on-one experience to improve your art and to help you organize, create, and deliver a portfolio that truly speaks to your talents.
If you are ready to step into your art practice.. all-out, this program is for you!
I accept a limited number of mentorship students that I work with one-on-one, based on a first-come, first-serve basis. I teach online mentorships and some in-person for my local students. I would love one of those students to be you!

I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to participate in Rose Irelan’s Mentorship Program. Not only is Rose an amazing artist, she is an incredible instructor and mentor. I feel that Rose met me where I was on my art journey when I started working with her. Rose gracefully guided me through the fundamentals and beyond, even though I resisted at times. I cannot count the number of “ah ha” moments I experienced through the exercises and assignments, which have all led me closer to discovering my individual voice as an artist. Through the mentorship program I discovered the power of Notan sketches, value scales, color charts, and master copies. Being a person who works best under pressure, having a due dates for assignments was exactly what I needed. Even though life got in the way several times, Rose always followed up with me to see how my assignments were coming along. Through this mentorship, I have gained more confidence in my painting and I look forward to applying all that I learned from Rose as I continue my art practice.

Today I learned that I need to work more with the complementary colors. I use blue and orange together quite often(my go to)but I need to use violet/yellow and red/green more often. I’m missing out on a bunch of colors!
I am starting to see in Notan! 😊 The walk we’ve taken for years suddently took on a new life yesterday. Thanks so much for your informative videos on the Notan motifs for different lighting scenarios. I feel like a physical change occurred in my brain and Notan finally makes sense! Wow!
